Ashton is running against Jose Menendez (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Texas State Senate to represent District 26. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 8, 2022.

In December 2012 Ashton Murray took the oath of office and joined the Army National Guard. Ashton served as an infantryman, and in 2017 was activated to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. It was there Ashton saw first hand what service truly means. Ashton has siblings that are still serving to this day along the border. Ashton knows what challenges they face, and Ashton knows what we need to do to support them. We must give our aid to all service members – both past and present – because it is their sacrifice that allows us the freedoms we enjoy
